Growth starts at home
Arizona’s housing supply is not keeping pace with its growth, driving up costs and making it harder for working families to rent or buy a home. Building more homes is essential to keeping Arizona affordable and sustaining the state’s economic momentum.
New residents and businesses continue to choose Arizona because of our friendly business climate, economic opportunities, and exceptional quality of life.
Unfortunately, estimates show Arizona faces an immediate need for 56,000 more housing units than the market can provide, according to Common Sense Institute Arizona. This shortage drives up costs, making it harder to find an affordable place to live, buy property, and continue Arizona’s economic momentum.
Currently, home developers are facing opposition to building new homes in communities that would benefit from more housing. When needed housing projects are delayed or blocked, the gap between supply and demand continues to grow, making homeownership and renting less attainable for many hardworking Arizonans.
It is critical that we embrace smart growth that benefits fellow residents, keeps the cost of living affordable, increases the supply of available homes, and sends the message that Arizona is the best state to build, expand or relocate a business.
